FAQ

I'm a Lead Designer and Strategist at the Design Experience Team.

I act on the entire design process at the job, being ahead of research, information architecture, and interaction, from sketch to client presentation. I've been leading projects and teams with all related areas of design such as UX, UI, Front-end, and UX Writing since 2019. My role is to push the team aiming innovation and technique quality. I'm also a career counselor and I help with technique mentorship to junior designers.

I believe a design process should always contemplate at least 3 phases -Discovery, Concept, and Production.- The project can last a year or just a week, what may change is how deep I can go in each part of the process.

Discovery: This is the part I do a lot of reading and interviews. The research is fundamental to understand the customer's behavior and necessities, as much as getting to know my client's goals, its structure, and how the business works. After the research is done, it's time to analyze the collected data and create some hypothesis. At this part I usually study some tendencies that can help my team to address the problems we've found.

Concept: When the problem is well set is time to start designing some ideas and testing those hypothesis. My first goal usually is to define the product's structure, organize the information, and define its interaction's framework. At the concept, I choose the user flow that best represents the problem we're trying to solve and design what I believe should be the future of the product.

Production: Once the product that I visualized is ready it's easier to design each user-flow thinking about every scenario and varieties. It's at this part that I'll build the components, libraries, and the structure of the design system along with the whole team.

At all time the key is to test lots of versions and not being afraid to make some mistakes and learn creatively.

As a designer, I'm always aiming to solve problems that make people's lives easier and attend the business necessities. I like to think my role has a little bit of detective and artist. I have to understand the necessities deeply to design what's best.

I do believe that design must push for inovation and use the data we have access to in a really smart way. That's why I'm always looking for what's trending and trying to understand the market as much as I can.

Besides designing a great and beautiful product I also want to see it working and see people using it, therefore I usually elaborate an strategy for launching it.

Great products are built with diversity. I'm used to working with a multidisciplinary team and I like to involve everyone in the design process. Each opinion is important and can add to what I'm designing. Everyone has a role and a specialty, and that mix of knowledge makes the design doable and solid. The more the team works together with respect and synergy higher are the chances that an awesome digital product will be developed.

I truly enjoy tools that allow me to test many variations and approaches for my ideas while I design such as Figma and Sketch. Figma has been my main tool nowadays, for me it's fundamental to work collaboratively with other designers, even better if it's in the same file. Besides, it's easier to give and receive feedback and iterate ideas within the design process.

When I'm researching I like to use tools like Optimal Workshop to make tree-tests, surveys, and first click tests due to its rich data provided. I also get along with Google Sheets and Excel to read and organize the information.

Let us not forget about the pen and paper, the perfect way to evolve my ideas.

A great design is a sum of people's ideas, so collaboration and diversity are essencial. Besides, it should be a balance between form and function.

On top of all function must ensure the problem is actually solved, the product is delivering the right amount of information, and being completely user-friendly as well. Then the form comes to bring consistency and accessibility, making sure a good usability. All of that with elegance, innovation, and pertinency.

Adding on that, I believe that great design arrives when we enjoy our process and have fun in every pixel.

I love to be in touch with other cultures by reading, eating, and searching for art, but traveling is by far my favorite thing.

I enjoy cooking for my family and friends, playing basketball (huge NBA fan), and riding a motorcycle to feel the freedom in the air. Other hobbies of mine are photography and playing video-games.
